Nobody likes firing people, especially after the most challenging year we’ve all had to endure, but sometimes it’s unavoidable. If your accountant isn’t up to scratch, now is the time to switch – and it’s easier than you might think.
There are all sorts of good reasons people stick with dodgy accountants for ages longer than they ought to.
Sometimes, it’s finding the time to scope out the alternatives and have that difficult conversation. “We’ll do it next year,” you think but before you know it, five years have passed.
Maybe it’s taken a while for the penny to drop. We’ve had a few clients over the years tell us that they hadn’t realised they were paying too much tax until after they’d made the switch to Diamond and we instantly found reliefs and allowances their previous accountant wasn’t claiming for them.
Or it might be that, though they’re not much good, you just like them and feel loyal to them. That’s understandable but you do need to put the needs of your own business first.
At Diamond Accounts, our onboarding process for taking on new clients is a piece of cake and we’re confident you won’t look back, as our glowing testimonials prove.
Reasons to change accountants
Almost all of our new clients come to us because their existing accountant is not saving them enough tax or they have received poor customer service. That won’t be an issue with us, in fact, we pride ourselves on that.
You won’t get any unexpected fees from us, either, and our use of digital technology ensures we keep you compliant with HMRC by meeting your deadlines on time, every time.
By coming to Diamond, you will also be able to tap into superb knowledge of the UK tax system or gain insights into your business that helps you take it to the next level of profitability. We also know several different sectors inside out that might be of use to you or your business.
We won’t make you jump through hoops or even keep a spreadsheet. Our accountants work hard to sort all of your accounts, tax and bookkeeping, whether personal or business. They’ll never give you a reason to leave us.
How to change accountants
Firstly, if you’re interested in coming over to Diamond, get in touch for an informal chat with either me or Sam. Tell us what you want from us and we will give you a no-obligation quote for our services.
If you’re happy for us to handle your accounts going forward, we can contact your existing accountant to tell them you’re leaving and request them to send us a disengagement letter.
This letter formally sets out the cut-off date, summarises matters that have been dealt with, and lists any outstanding matters that we might need to follow up to ensure you remain compliant with HMRC.
Once your existing accountant has transferred all of your account details over to us, including any tax matters they’ve already resolved, we will need you to sign a form that authorises us to deal with HMRC on your behalf.
